Judy O'Brien was born and lived
most of her life in Vestal, New York, a small town near Binghamton.
She studied Art at Syracuse University School of Fine Arts, before beginning
her professional career in 1973 under her married name Judy O'Brien
Galatha.
In 1979, circumstances transplanted Judy and her family
to Charlotte, North Carolina, where the opportunities of a larger city
allowed her career to blossom for the next 20 years. Judy displayed her
work in her home, galleries, and at seasonal outdoor shows like "SpringFest".
Starting with the inaugural event in 1981, she displayed her work and
played an active role in the management and evolution of the uptown outdoor
arts and music festival which continued until 1997.
During those prolific years, Judy took opportunites to study at the Art Institute
of Chicago, and abroad in England, France, and Ireland. In 1999, she returned
to her maiden name O'Brien, and set out on a new beginning in Reston,
Virgina, a community within close proximity to Washington, DC. For such
a "people" person like Judy, the opportunity, broad cultural
diversity, and community involvement of the nation's capital are her newly
found inspiration as she continues expanding her horizons. She invites
you to contact her at her new studio by phone, fax, or email to discuss
creating a work of original art to your specifications to enhance your
collection.
